Brian, my man, thanks for sharing your story. I'm so stoked you're hyped for the season, but your personal journey really got me. I can't imagine what you've gone through, but I'm glad you're using that experience to make a difference. That means the world. And yeah, my pops is still spreading the love, even back in the day! Thanks for being part of our community, Brian. Appreciate you as always.

KJ, gotta hand it to you, this was a particularly enjoyable pod.

We're all in on Gabriela. Can't wait until WBB tix go on sale here so I can snag a pair for the Bruin game here at Carver. 14,994 fans vs me and whichever sucker I pick to watch my back! So fun.

MBB? Can hardly contain my enthusiasm. Preseason, everybody looks like an All American and every team has a chance, but this year it feels real. There is so much that remains to be sorted out, but on paper and based on reporting, this seems like a team that could have "it" if the cookie crumbles our way. Somebody get me a glass of milk!

One last add: Dribble for the Cure and pediatric cancer, in general, is close to our hearts. We lost our youngest son when he was just a tiny little boy, and the profundity of the ordeal is bigger than any words can convey. It's super personal, and all consuming. Kids and families fighting cancer and bone marrow diseases face challenges EVERY DAY that are enough to break apart a person or a group, as everyone else found out during the social separation of the pandemic.

The support and care offered to sick kiddos and their families means everything. "The kindness of strangers" has power that I had never experienced before. When I watch "The Wave" I still weep, every time, because those families are us, and we remember falling out of chairs due to stress, fear, anger, sadness, anxiety, and existential crisis.

We remain involved in the pediatric cancer community, fundraising and hoping to inspire others to do the same... and to help students here prepare for their own inevitable health crises, in whatever form. Thank you for mentioning Dribble for the Cure.

Last thing, your pop came to visit me in the olden UCLA hospital when I was there, ca. 74 or 75. Routine visit for him, Andre, and Richard... but for me it meant everything, to this day. I wish I still had the tiny T-shirt they gave me, with the elusive Bruin shoulder stripes!

Thank you, Marques and gang, thank you UCLA, and thank you, Kris!
