@BruinsNo1 Thanks for linking the pod, my man. I think Bona's unofficial Max Vert was done in a setting where he could take off a lot farther than where they allowed the guys to take off from. At the combine, they only allowed guys around 3-4 steps before taking off, and Bona hit 40 inches in that. Hoping Bona's basketball performance at the combine, coupled with his testing numbers, convince someone to take a chance on him late in the first round. It's a long shot but anything is possible. Oh thanks for the info on the combine vertical leap take off rules, didn't know that. BTW something funny while I was searching for stuff. Adem missed a great opportunity for NIL bucks with this company. Maybe he can still get a deal as a pro haha.
Hey Kris, great pod as always and thanks for the shoutout!
On the vertical jump figures, as I know that you already know there are 2 types; Standing Vertical Leap and Max Vertical Leap. I personally believe the Standing Vert is more accurate in the combine setting and Bona was #1 there at 35", see the link below, and the first player categorized as a Center to be #1 since Cody Zeller in 2013-14 which is 11 years ago. The Max Leap/Jump really depends on where they take off from as an inch off can really affect the height score similar to the long jump in track and field. So I believe Bona's unofficial 48.5" Max Leap/Jump in workouts is probably legit considering his 7'4" wingspan and Standing Vert scores. Now whether that gets him a 1st round entry is questionable but Peyton Watson only had 28/33.5 combine vert scores which is a bit surprising as I thought it would be higher but I bet he had great workouts and made the 1st round barely so maybe in a supposedly weak draft, Bona might squeak in like Watson did based on his potential. I'm sure he's getting feedback from the scouts on where he'll likely land so even at a 2nd round pick, he should be OK as his potential is much higher than most and teams will be investing in him for several years to prove that. Plus consider that height is not that big of a factor when your name is Draymond Green at 6'6" or Bam Adebayo at 6'9" and both have played the Center position at times so I can see Bona aiming to be that type of defensive nightmare player with more development.
Also didn't know about the pod you did with MJ. Did a search and found it here for those who don't know. Nice to hear about a serious topic being addressed, thanks!
