Cronin definitely gets it. Coach Wooden was no joke on the discipline side, like you say a necessary ingredient for championship level teams. I had to leave Stan's alone around 96' after I lost all the weight. Went to that place one too many times.
Outstanding! Very entertaining. Your enthusiasm is wonderful. Shoot, I get to interact with KRIS JOHNSON? Yes please!
Cronin makes me smile. He seems like he gets it. Too tough? Please. My favorite high school teacher played for Coach Wooden in the late 50sand told me Coach was the strictest disciplinarian he ever met. I'll bet your Pop has all manner of stories. I can't imagine that any of the great championship winning coaches are pushovers. Dan Hurley? Jay Wright? Unlikely. Nice guys like a certain someone don't win big.
I gotta say, as lowbrow as it might be, my absolute favorite joint in Westwood was always Stan's donuts. It broke my heart when he closed up, but now we have it out here in Chicago, which is just super weird and totally different. Still good, but missing all the Village magic.
