Good stuff, Kris. Thanks. What a huge bummer. It sounds like Iago is whispering into Mara(s)'s ear. Beyond the overwhelming disappointment(s), oh, wait, there is no beyond the disappointment.
Fiddlesticks!
My irrelevant vote at this point is to get a rebounding defender. We need toughness, size, and smarts more than potential. And a lights-out shooter, too. Maybe we already have a few. Better tempo, decision making, and passing will help.
I hope Chef Cronin has a strong InstaPot game. The pressure and heat must be put to use, quickly.
thank you for this list for us. all the attention this post-season has gone to the drama positions. First PG and now Center, both for obvious reasons. Wing isn't being mentioned much at all. If that is more design than focus, could Mick see the top needs as vital (first landing Dent, now replacing Mara) and thinking if need be he can cover wing with a combination of Dailey, Perry and Freeny?
I was thinking about that scenario earlier this morning Barry. Wing by committee with what we got. I still think adding 1 two-way wing shooter/scorer would be prudent. Dailey's development over the next 7 months will be key in determining his ability to play on the wing consistently. It's not easy changing positions over a summer. I signed with UCLA out of HS as a center, but transformed into a starting shooting guard by my sophomore season. It takes an obscenely excessive amount of work to pull of but can be done. Dailey's ballhandling in the half and open court have to improve, as well as his passing reads and decisions on the break and in pick-n-roll.
personally, I don't like bandaids and short cuts. To be competitive I believe we need TWO centers - true centers (whether we go small with Tyler in there at times for for a few minutes a game to throw opponents off or not) - and we need at least one true taller wing capable of impacting the game. Brandon Williams could also play the bigger wing spot and Freeny and Perry could play the smaller end, a 3 guard as it were. But a true wing imo is needed for us to be the whole package
Wings that fit that mold are flying off the board. Posts too. Gwath is crystal balled to UK. Morez Johnson just signed with Michigan. UCLA is kicking tires on KJ Lewis and Arkansas Ivisic.

I agree Brian we need bulk and toughness and a doggone 3PT specialist.
