UCLA MBB's Guard Room: Something's Gotta Give
Trent Perry's imminent commitment adds a major roster dilemma for Mick Cronin.
UCLA Basketball’s Mick Cronin continues to cook, this time convincing Virginia commit Trent Perry bring his talents to Westwood. In a wild turn of events over the past 48 hours, 247 Sports issued a crystal ball for Perry to Virginia, removed it, then reissued a second crystal ball, this time for UCLA. We received word late Saturday night that Perry was re-considering his choice and that the Bruins were in the lead.
Perry’s addition would push UCLA over their scholarship limit (13) and creates somewhat of a roster management conundrum for head coach Mick Cronin. I’m trying to figure out how Coach Cronin is going to balance the logjam on the perimeter. Between Skyy Clark, Dylan Andrews, Dom Harris, Kobe Johnson, Sebastian Mack, Lazar Stefanovic and Eric Freeny, there aren’t ton of minutes to go around. Experienced veterans Clark, Andrews, Harris and Johnson are slated to play the majority of the minutes available at guard and wing slots.
